Dr Ruiz-Ramon has been a practicing General and AST Certified Transplant Nephrologist since 1992. He practiced in Northern California for ten years and moved to Tampa in 2001 after being recruited by one of the largest transplant programs in the US. During his four years primarily as a transplant nephrologist, he spearheaded new treatment protocols and programs for the transplant program. Disillusioned by the widening gap between numbers of available kidney donors and numbers of potential kidney transplant recipients, he decided to change focus and concentrate on creating a nephrology specific medical practice that not only focused on treating kidney failure by means of dialysis and transplantation, but also by providing innovative therapies to slow or prevent progression in patients with existing chronic kidney disease. It is this impetus that led to his founding of Tampa Renal Physicians in 2005. Dr Ruiz-Ramon’s book chapter publications in the field of Hypertension have also made him sought after for the diagnosis and treatment of difficult to control high blood pressure. Dr Ruiz-Ramon is impassioned about getting the word out to both medical community and general public about the staggering numbers of Americans with chronic kidney disease. You may hear one of his webinar lectures on this subject at the following link: https://hsh.webex.com/hsh/lsr.php?AT=pb&SP=EC&rID=2151477&rKey=16371aa091f1834c
